I have a very high metabolism and am trying to gain weight. I need to put on around 10 pounds because I play sports, and in order to make the varsity team next year I feel that it would be wise to get a little more in shape. Do you have any suggestions?
Well, the first logical question is: Do you eat three meals every day, and do you eat enough? Another thing to check is your thyroid, to make sure it’s not over reactive. Hopefully, you don’t smoke. I would assure that your diet is adequate in proteins, complex carbohydrates and good fats (fish, olive oil, avocado, nuts, and seeds), including lots of fruits, vegetables and beans.
You may also need good healthy snack foods between meals — fruit juices, protein powder and fruit juice smoothies. Are you doing any weight training to bulk up a bit? Consider seeing a licensed naturopathic physician or good nutritionist for dietary counseling. Good luck.
